Kaureen Bird (deceased) was born in Alice Springs, and was the daughter of renowned artist Marie Ryder, and the granddaughter of watercolourist Therese Ryder.
Kaureen first learned to paint by watching her mother. Kaureen’s depictions are typically of the bush foods of her country and of women’s ceremony. Similar to her mother’s style, Kaureen’s paintings are very methodical and finely dotted, though she created a distinctive aesthetic with the use of vibrant, bold colours, and often using metallic paint.
