Polly Ngale

Polly belongs to the oldest living generation of Utopia women and is considered one of the most accomplished Utopian painters. Like her sisters Angelina and Kathleen, Polly Ngale paints the Anwekety (conkerberry, also known as the bush plum), through her flourishing colour palettes.  Polly is the senior custodian of Anwekety and her authority and knowledge of the story imbue upon the canvas.  Loading her brush with paint, she methodically works her way across the canvas layering colour shades indicative of the flora and fruits of her homeland.  Her works radiate with confidence while capturing the often hidden subtleties and softness of the landscape, much like the Impressionists of the 19th century.
