Reg Pengarte is an Arrernte man born in 1966 who lives and works in Alice Springs. The stories Reg depicts show common figures in his life and also of his ancestors from the Roper River area of the Northern Territory, such as kangaroos, birds, reptiles, fish and turtles. They also depict how they are hunted and with what type of weapon. Reg paints in a style that is commonly referred to as “cross-hatch” or “x-ray” that is associated with artists coming from the top end of Australia. This style can be found on the inside of caves and rock formations.
