Sabrina Spencer’s Bush Medicine Dreaming artworks depict the search by Aboriginal women to find and gather specific leaves and seeds for medicinal purposes. Certain types of bush medicine grow around the edges of waterholes and creek ways. The women see the leaves, harvest and dry them, then grind them down to a powder to mix with animal fat. The animal fat extracts the medicine oils within the leaves and this can be applied topically for various ailments.
