Katherine Marshall Nakamarra was born in 1968 and is the daughter of the famed Papunya Tula artists, Walangkurra Napanangka and Johnny Yungut. Katherine inherited her parents’ Dreamtime stories which she paints today. Her stories are: My Country, Women’s Dreaming and My Mother’s Country (Tjintjintjin).
Like her sister, Debra Young Nakamarra, Katherine’s works capture the colour and texture of her country west of Alice Springs. They depict waterholes, rock outcrops and other defining geological features significant to the Pintupi.
