The Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjata (APY) Lands spans a great distance - over 100,000 square kilometres - of the remote northwest region of South Australia. Though sparsely populated, the APY Lands comprises of a number of Aboriginal communities. The contributions of many artists in the last few decades have nurtured the incredible legacy and artistic reputation of this region. The APY art movement commenced around 70 years ago in the small community of Pukatja (Ernabella). Artworks from the APY Lands are known for their vibrant, highly symbolic artworks, comprising a variety of styles - not limited to, but often employing the traditional dotting method that the Central & Western Desert movements are known for.
