The stories Reg Pengarte depicts show common figures in his life and also of his ancestors from the Roper River area of the Northern Territory, such as kangaroos, birds, reptiles, fish and turtles. They also show how they are hunted and with various weapons. Reg paints in a style that is commonly referred to as “cross-hatch” or “x-ray” and is associated with artists coming from the top end of Australia. This style can be found on the inside of caves and rock formations.
