from a young age and her skill is evident.
Bernadine’s Bush Medicine leaves are uniquely identifiable by the bursts
of leaves she paints across the canvas to provide depth and an energised rhythm.
Bernadine also paints the Pencil Yam, using coloured strokes for the yams and
white dots for their tiny seeds. Both bush medicine, a healing source, and
pencil yams, a nutritious tucker, hold great cultural relevance for Indigenous
peoples. Bernadine prefers to paint in vibrant, contemporary colour fields, and her artworks
are well sought after.
