Walala strikingly depicts designs associated with the Tingari Song Cycle, or Tingari Dreaming Cycle. Hailing from the ancient Creation era, the Tingari encompasses a vast network of songlines that traverse the Western Desert as well as a cultural lattice of rituals, sacred sites, social structure and ancient law. Walala’s style is strongly gestural and boldly graphic, defined by undulating geometric forms set against a monochrome background.
