Reanelle Jurra b. 1987

Biography
LANGUAGE: WARLPIRI
REGION, WILLOWRA, N.T.

Reanelle Jurra is an emerging Warlpiri artist from the remote community of Willowra, which is around 330km kilometres north-west of Mparntwe (Alice Springs). Her aunty is esteemed artist Eva Nelson, who paints a similar style by using a black and white colour palette and fine dotting. Reanelle is also related to well-known Aboriginal artist Dadu Long, and like her artistic relatives, she shows great enthusiasm and potential.

Reanelle paints the stories of her Country and the significant sites of her desert home, often depicting Waterhole Dreaming, paying homage to the life-giving resource that allows bush foods and medicines to flourish. One such example is the bush damper seed, often painted by Reanelle, depicting the waterholes around which the cherished seed is harvested.
