The bush onion is an important source of food that is traditionally collected by women, and it grows around waterholes and water sources in Sabrina’s country. The women gather, cook and eat the nutritious onion. The waterholes around which the onion grows are usually depicted as the central roundel, and the myriad of white dots and the dotted lines are representative of the plant growing around them or around the dry creek beds after rains. Sabrina draws from the depth of her knowledge of her ancestral country to depict the features of the land, and the nutritious or medicinal plants that grow around waterholes.
