Eric has a passion for caring for his ancestral country and passing on the stories to the next generation through art and story-telling. Eric often paints the stories and songlines that pass through Mparntwe (Alice Springs) and the surrounding country. In this painting he depicts aspects of the Caterpillar Dreaming that are connected to Ntaripe, or Heavitree Gap, in Mparntwe. There are three species of caterpillar that are associated with this story and which are considered deeply significant spiritual beings by Arrernte people - Yeperenye, Ntyarlke and Utnerrengatye.
