Kay Baker paints Minyma Malilu, a significant story from her ancestral country, 'a big story' in particular for the women of Kanpi in the APY Lands. The story tells of Malilu, an elderly spiritual ancestor dug a cave to keep watch over her daughter, who ran away with the "wrong man", according to the complex kinship systems of Aboriginal people. With considerable seniority and cultural authority, Kay paints the cave where Malilu lived until her death. She includes symbols and iconography in her paintings that show the waterways that pass through the cave and the various types of bush tucker Malilu survived on.
