Maureen
paints her grandmother’s story about two snakes who were travelling across the
land. The female snake slithered into the hole of an anthill, but the male
snake couldn’t fit and travelled elsewhere. Maureen paints the tunnels and
water systems of the anthill as the snake moves underground. Maureen paints
with deep cultural knowledge and authority, successfully blending a traditional
and contemporary aesthetic.
