Belinda paints the Bush
Medicine Leaf design in this painting, her fluid strokes capturing the
wind as it blows through the leaves as they dry. This painting represents the native bush medicine botanicals that grow in Belinda's country, which are collected and used by the women to treat certain ailments. The leaves are dried on
the ground and then ground into a powder to be mixed with animal fats to
extract the medicinal qualities. Just like the artists from which Belinda
learnt, Belinda possesses an innate sense of colour.
