Rarrk is a style of artmaking that uses a fine cross-hatching technique, largely associated with Arnhemland in the far north of the Northern Territory. Rarrk usually has a highly stylised appearance, and is deeply imbued with cultural meaning, with different shapes or geometric forms representing different clans or language groups. Rarrk techniques are traditionally used for larrakitj memorial or burial poles, ceremonial body painting, bark and rock paintings.
