Freda is an emerging artist following in the footsteps of her famous mother, Anna Pitjara. Primarily working in black and white, Freda delicately paints her country from an aerial point of view. She maps the undulations of the sand hills, the rock holes and water courses, while showing the various textures of the landscape. Freda shows great passion and promise in the earlier stages of her painting career. Freda comes from the Utopia region of Central Australia which is approximately 300 kilometres north-east of Alice Springs and home to many well-known artists including Gloria Petyarre, Emily Kame Kngwarreye, Abie Loy and Polly Ngale.
