Gracie Morton is believed to have been born in 1956 although the exact date is unclear. Her aunties are Gloria, Kathleen, Myrtle, Violet and Ada Bird Petyarre all of whom are recognised artists in their own right. Gracie began her artistic career in the 1970s at Utopia and moved on to canvas in the 1980s. Her works have been exhibited widely overseas and throughout Australia. Today, she primarily paints the Bush Plum story. Gracie paints this story using myriad of layered fine dots to represent the bush plum. This field of colour is then dissected by geometric lines indicating the tracks the women walk to collect them.
