Marlene Young’s main Dreaming stories include important women’s dreamings and the body paint designs associated with them. Marlene’s trademark is the use of bright colours coupled with thick layered paint; a style that is distinctive of the Kintore region. Her father was the well-known Tommy Lowry Tjapaltjarri and her adopted father is the famous Doctor George Tjapaltjarri. Through her family members Marlene is connected to some of the most regarded and respected Indigenous artists including Nosepeg Tjupurrula, Fred Ward Tjungurrayi, Turkey Tolson and many others. It is through these connections and the education that they provided that Marlene learnt and honed her painting skills and her storytelling ability.
